I.T Hardware & Software Audit

Tracking software and hardware changes on a Network has always been a difficult and time consuming process, often requiring extra software to be installed across the whole network.

Due to the difficulties involved in this process, many companies do not perform these essential auditing processes, leaving themselves with the possibility of Software licensing issues, danger of introducing Viruses via illegal software downloaded from the internet, and even hardware being changed without their knowledge.

DataTrak are now able to offer a new and valuable service to help combat this problem.

Using our own In-House software we can carry out an audit of all Windows PCs on your network including servers.

What's Involved?

We use an agent free hardware and software auditing tool developed in house called SofTrak-fm which gives you a comprehensive inventory of software and hardware on the company networked PCs. Standalone PCs can also be audited via a direct install.

This will enable you to enforce software and hardware standards across the organisation.

Our software audit targets windows PC's over LAN's, WAN's and VPN's and gathers software and hardware information without the requirement for the installation of a client binary, agent or script* on the machines being audited. Just a simple install of the Audit software on any one of the PC's on the network.

* PC's with Windows 95 or 98 require additional Microsoft software (at no additional cost) to be installed locally.

What Data Do We Collect?

Our software is capable of collecting over 100 fields of information covering 27 areas of each PC, making it one of the most comprehensive audits available today.

Information we gather includes:

• Computer Name

• Computer Manufacturer

• Computer Serial Number

• CPU Speed

• RAM

• Disk space (total and % free)

• Shares offered

• Drives Mapped

• OS Version

• Service pack

• Software license compliance info

• Software installed, including applications, patches and hot fixes.

If you are having a physical audit completed by us, we can use the Computer Name field to link the Physical Asset data with the Software Audit data giving you a comprehensive I.T Asset Register.

Data collected from the hardware and software audit can be imported into an Access or SQL database or into our Asset-FM software.
