Desk & Cable Management Systems
Although more power, telecommunications and data cables now go to the average desk than ever before, many organisations overlook the need to ensure that the installation of cabling in office furniture also complies with the requirements of BS6396.
BS 6396:1995 specifies requirements for the safe provision or installation of electrical power, data and telecommunications distribution systems in office furniture and office screens. Requirements are specified for furniture for general use; and for furniture for use with specific equipment; parts of which may be built in during manufacture.
The standard applies to single-phase electrical power distribution systems operating at rated voltages up to 250 V ac that are connected to the fixed wiring of the permanent installation of the building by a 13A fused plug and socket arrangement. The standard covers a variety of issues such as earthing, the need for each socket to be individually fused and even the exposed length of a power supply cord - to highlight just a few things.
Installation of Power Units
We can either supply the units for you to fit yourselves, or, we can install them for you - the choice is yours. The cost for us to install the units very much depends on what is found during the building survey but will include completion of an earth bond to existing earthing point (where appropriate), re-routing present cables and the supply of umbilical spiral wraps or tie wraps, grommets and screws etc.
Tidy Up of Cabling
You may already have cable management installed but over a period of time the cables hanging beneath the desk have become untidy and perhaps now pose a health & safety risk.
We will "tidy up" the existing cabling using tie-wraps, clips etc. and therefore reduce the risk of accidents.
